The LX-17, pictured above, is Lynx Motorsports' Formula SAE competition vehicle for the 2016-2017 design year. Designed and constructed from the ground up as part of the senior design program for CU Denver's Mechanical Engineering department, the LX-17 finished 31st at the 2017 Formula SAE event in Lincoln Nebraska.
The SAE International Formula SAE program is a globally recognized engineering design competition for students. The design goal is to develop and construct a single-seat race car with the best overall package of design, construction, performance and cost.
The current vehicle iteration for 2017-2018, the LX-18, is currently in the preliminary design phase and construction will begin in January 2018. Stay tuned for additional media from Lynx Motorsports for current and past projects!
Lynx Motorsports Racing is a University of Colorado Denver student engineering team dedicated to designing and building race cars for Formula SAE competition.
In addition to automotive interests, the LMR team has a long-term focus on engineering oureach and cultivating community interest in STEM fields.
The Lynx Motorsports team is comprised of specialized divisions responsible for various subsystems on the vehicle as well as cross-functional support teams. The Lynx Motorsports team is responsible for generating all funding for the Formula SAE project. This means supplies for every aspect of the competition vehicle, from structural materials to tools, must be sourced from donor suppliers or paid for using funds provided by corporate and private sponors. Without the generous support of donors like you, this program simply wouldn’t be possible.
Beyond creating the best competition car possible, Lynx Motorsport Racing is an organization focused on developing practical engineering skills through hands on experience, mentoring underclassmen, and developing innovative solutions to engieering problems. You can consider your contribution an investment in the next generation of engineers who will be working directly in your community.
Our team appreciates any support you can provide. No contribution is too small and spare materials or supplies are just as important as monetary donations. For further information please visit our sponsorship page.
